Another ending

Forgive me. It's been three months since my last blog post. In that time, more television shows have ended, and there was a period where everyone was getting married (including two of my exes in less than a week). Basically, life has been weird. And way too hectic. Especially at work where everyone is hyper extended and thus balls are dropping left and right.

I began and ended this year's Beach Naturalist season (although there are dates all through July and August). I went to Los Angeles for my first visit and saw the La Brea Tar Pits (which are actually asphalt), the Walk of Fame (Mitzi Gaynor was my first spotted star), Grauman's Chinese Theatre (and Grauman's Egyptian Theater, which held the first Hollywood premier, and El Capitan, where 'Citizen Kane' debuted.), the front of the LA courthouse which has featured in countless television shows I grew up watching, and the Getty.

I managed one kayaking outing, which is very disappointing, although I did make 5 films at SIFF (the Seattle International Film Festival).

And I've been trying hard to enjoy this time of the year. June in Seattle is often a milder November, weather-wise, but when it isn't gray and windy or rainy, the daylight is spectacular. It does not get dark until 10 or so, making it feel like you can go forever. And then you are up past your bedtime (tonight, after leaving work after 6, I returned library books [forgetting one!] and took out a new crop to help with an upcoming trip, bought gin, went to Target to return and buy, did laundry, took a shower, changed my sheets, put away my laundry, paid bills [that reminds me, I need to transfer money!], listened to countless podcasts, did the dishes, installed the bedroom fan as it is warm in my apartment and am now writing here!) and not really ready to sleep. It is possible the Dr. Pepper I had at lunch is making it more difficult.

I am exhausted mentally and emotionally. I even walked a mile (in two halves), so haven't been too inert.

I need to watch the sunset before it goes below 9PM. Tomorrow, July begins, and when July ends, so does Seattle summer. I've already found a tree whose leaves are turning (very troubling). Most folks will tell you that July is the best summer weather in Seattle. But the endless nights are something even better to me.
